GUANGZHOU - The families of the 15 deceased victims in a ceramics factory fire on August 23have reached compensation deals with the factory in South China's Guangdong province, localauthorities said on Friday.
Each family will get 700,000 yuan (about $110,000) in compensation according to the dealsreached with the Shengfeng Ceramics Company in Sanshui district of Foshan city, according tothe information office of the district government.
The fire broke out at 6 am on August 23 and engulfed the factory's building, which containsboth dormitories and offices, and left 15 dead and one seriously injured who remainshospitalized, the office said.
An investigation showed that the fire was caused by a short circuit that occurred in an iron wireduct on the second floor of the building.
